Image Content Technology LLC (ICT) was formed in December 1996. We develop image-processing products based on a revolutionary, patented, image-processing algorithm called Differential Hysteresis Processing or DHP.

DHP lets us easily see what we could not otherwise perceive. Images contain hundreds to tens of thousands of contrast levels when our eyes can only see roughly 32 levels of contrast. With DHP you can select a range of contrast variances to enhance. DHP then compares each pixel to every other pixel along hundreds of radial lines. Contrast variances within the range are enhanced and contrast variances outside the range are diminished. Contrast information is shifted in emphasis, not thrown away. So the smallest image detail is accurately revealed throughout the image, simultaneously in the dark and brightest areas.

With DHP you can also smooth a range of contrast variances. A combination of image smoothing and detail enhancement reveals mid-level image contrast patterns.

Our first product, Lucis, was stand-alone PC software developed for the scientific and medical imaging communities. ICT also licenses Lucis so it can enhance imaging software and equipment.

We knew that DHP could be used to fix image exposure and reveal image detail. Then we discovered that you could deliberately set the DHP parameters to create artifacts. This resulted in several beautiful and unusual special effects. The DHP algorithm is so flexible that it has the potential to create many more special effects.

So we wrapped up DHP in a user interface every image maker can run with to create LucisArt, a Mac and PC plug-in for Adobe® Photoshop® software. LucisArt was launched in November 2000. The Macintosh version was released a year later.

In 2003 we released Lucis Pro 5.0.stand-alone PC software that allows each RGB channel in a color images to be processed separately. This software provides incredible access to image content.

Now we are developing Lucis Pro 6.0, a Photoshop plug-in with all the capabilities of Lucis Pro 5.0. Artistic application examples will be found at www.lucispro.com by the end of August. A new LucisArt 3 is also under development and is scheduled to be released at the end of August.
